The little tree person splashed into the pool and made sure to wash himself clean inside and out. Then he quietly sneaked back into Zuo Feng’s room.

Zuo Feng was already done with his bath. He had his back toward the door with a towel around his waist and the empty flower pot in his hands. He tensed up as soon as he discovered the pot was empty and then frantically searched around the room as if trying to dig Di Lin out.

“Di Lin? Did you wake up?” Zuo Feng carefully searched around the flower pot, not even leaving the comforter and pillows unturned. He didn’t see Di Lin, and in the end, he even dug out all the soil in the flower pot. The anxious way Zuo Feng searched for an answer made Di Lin pause in surprise.

Ever since Di Lin had cured Zuo Feng of his poison, Zuo Feng had become more and more steady and rarely acted so… out of control.

Di Lin could even see Zuo Feng’s eyes reddening. The muscles in the arms holding the flower pot gradually stiffened.

Zuo Feng dug something out from the nutrient soil and picked it up to examine it more closely. Di Lin saw a few roots of varying thickness and a withered leaf — those were an old leaf and some old roots that Di Lin accidentally left behind in his hurry to leave the soil. But to Zuo Feng, there appeared to be something else.

A plant leaf that was of the same exact species as Di Lin and some roots!

Could it be that he couldn’t even keep Di Lin’s origin wood?

Zuo Feng collapsed in despair on the bed and his figure seemed extremely forlorn.

Di Lin’s heart completely softened, but physiologically, he couldn’t help but bloom all over his head.

His heart ached at how pained Zuo Feng was but he also couldn’t help but react to the waistline that peeked out from the edge of the towel…

Di Lin licked his lips and couldn’t wait any longer. He ran toward the bed. Only then did he realize that in order to avoid being seen by the Zuo family, he had made himself minuscule when he left Zuo Feng’s bedroom. Without staring intently at him, he was practically invisible. No wonder Zuo Feng searched for so long and didn’t find him.

He crawled as quietly as possible onto the bed and then onto Zuo Feng’s towel. Then he gently scratched Zuo Feng’s waist with his tiny tree hands. He said, “Feng, I didn’t leave.”

Zuo Feng’s body froze, and he forcefully reached down toward his waist. He thought he grabbed something in that instant but couldn’t be sure since it was tiny. He even suspected he might be hallucinating. For a while, he almost didn’t dare to bring his hand toward his eyes to look.

Di Lin sighed and scratched Zuo Feng’s palm, “Wife, I’m really truly here.”

Zuo Feng made sure he wasn’t hearing things and hurriedly brought his loose fist in front of his face and opened it up. Indeed, there was a tiny tree person on it.

By that time, Di Lin had made himself slightly bigger, but he was still just about the size of half an adult palm. Mostly he didn’t dare get too much because he needed to be at his most adorable state to comfort Zuo Feng.

He sat on Zuo Feng’s palm and titled his tiny face upward, exclaiming, “Darling, you’re crying!”

“What happened?” Zuo Feng didn’t cry, but his eyes were a bit red, though the tears remained unshed, “You didn’t die?”

“I did, but I’m alive again,” Di Lin blinked a couple of times, “How could I bear to leave you alone?”

“Don’t be daft. So when Pipi peed on you, you woke up?”

“Ah.. no-not entirely. I just started to have a bit of consciousness,” Di Lin looked at Zuo Feng’s eyes staring at him and stuttered out, “Just – just I was pretty out of it and I wasn’t sure what was going on.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me the moment you woke up, hmm? Was it fun to watch me be upset?” Zuo Feng pinched Di Lin’s tree foot with his thumb and index finger and lifted him upside down, “Are you itching for a smack?”

“Ah, I – I’m dizzy… so dizzy!” Di Lin pressed his little forehead and closed his eyes.

Zuo Feng looked at how Di Lin was acting pitifully and then looked at his headful of abnormally flashy and brightly colored pink flowers. He didn’t say anything and pretended to sympathetically right Di Lin up and gently place him on the bed, “Dizzy?”

Di Lin nodded and looked tearfully at Zuo Feng, “So dizzy. So dizzy that my eyes, oh no, my entire world is just you now!”

Zuo Feng’s lips twitched, and he picked up the pillow and looked at Di Lin.

“Darling, what are you doing?” Di Lin jerked, “Do you want me to hold you and sleep?”

“Sure, but before then, there’s something I have to do.” With that, Zuo Feng lifted the pillow and whacked Di Lin, “That’ll teach you to pretend! To pretend! Believe me when I say I will kill you!”

“Ahhhhhhh! Don’t hit me, don’t hit me!” Di Lin crawled and rolled around the bed, trying to hide underneath the bed. He ran toward the side of the bed and covered his head. The flowers on him fell all over the bed. “It wasn’t that I didn’t want to see you. Ahhhhh! Owww! I just didn’t want to see you while smelling like pee! Dammit! My leaves!!!”

“You shut up!” Zuo Feng tossed the pillow aside heavily, and his chest heaved up and down.

At that, Di Lin had no other choice but to use his ultimate weapon. Since being cute wasn’t working at appeasing his lover’s anger, he had to change tactics.

Zuo Feng didn’t want to interact with Di Lin for now. But he had just sat down on the bed when Di Lin changed into his human form and brazenly scooted close.

Di Lin hugged Zuo Feng from behind and gently licked at Zuo Feng’s neck, “Are you really mad at me?”

Zuo Feng gave him a sideways glare and jammed his elbow between Di Lin’s ribs, “Too hot. Don’t hug me.”

“If I don’t hug you, who else am I supposed to hug?” Di Lin nibbled at Zuo Feng’s ear, and his hands unabashedly loosened Zuo Feng’s towel. He turned around and sat on Zuo Feng, pushing the other guy down. Zuo Feng looked at him very intently as if he wanted to bite the man in front of him.

Di Lin knew that he probably really angered the guy and kept trying to patiently comfort the man in his arms.

But the man did! Not! Care!

Zuo Feng got angrier and angrier the more he looked at Di Lin and, in the end, he let out a blast of fire and burned the only “brush’ on Di Lin’s body.

“Owwww!” A howl later and the room instantly turned into a chaotic warzone.

When Lei Jue and Xiao Lingyu woke up the next day, they tried to figure out how to discuss with Zuo Feng the possibility of using the “Pipi fertilizer” again. But they sensed something was different as soon as they walked into the main building. Not only that, but the Offspring Tree that had kept dropping leaves in the ecosphere was not only recovered and not losing leaves, but it had also grown quite a bit.

That’s damned amazing!

Zuo Zhihuan and Ding Yunwen were also looking at the Offspring Tree. When they noticed Lei Jue, they asked, “Lei, look at the tree. Is it recovering?”

“Looks like it,” Lei Jue glanced over at Zuo Feng’s bedroom, “Uncle Zuo, has Zuo Feng not come down yet?”

“Not yet,” Zuo Zhihuan replied, “We were just about to go up and take a look. But since you’re here, if you’ve got nothing to do, why don’t you go up and peek in on him? We won’t go up. Remember to come down and have breakfast in a bit.”

“Sure,” Lei Jeu and Xiao Lingyu walked up with the children and knocked on the door, “Zuo Feng, you up?”

“I’m up!” Zuo Feng’s voice was a bit hoarse and sounded different than his usual state. “Hold on a sec, I’ll be right there.”

Lei Jue and Xiao Lingyu glanced at each other. and one of them smiled suggestively while the other raised his eyebrows. They both saw the same knowing expression on each other’s faces.

Then, Zuo Yan opened his door and stepped out, “Morning.”

“Morning, did anything special happen last night?” Xiao Lingyu asked.

“Yeah,” Zuo Yan’s expression was a bit weird, “I saw the tree in the ecosphere grow like crazy, and it… also smelled really good,” That sweet, but not overly so, fragrance lightly perfumed the air. It smelled really good, and a tiny bit made the people who smelled it very comfortable.

Zuo Feng’s door opened then and he walked out wearing a set of light lounge clothing. “Morning.”

Xiao Lingyu and Lei Jue, and Zuo Yan only glanced at him for a second before trying to look inside his room.

Zuo Feng coughed slightly, “He’s not in the room.”

Di Lin chose that moment to crawl out from Zuo Feng’s pant pocket like a player and wink at all of them, “I’m here! I’m here!”

“Uncle, you are awake,” Lei Jue sighed in relief, “How do you feel? Does anything feel off?”

“Definitely not,” Xiao Lingyu said, “The Offspring Tree grew so quickly,” If they didn’t do this and that, could it grow that quickly? If something was wrong, they wouldn’t be able to do it at all!

“Not at all. I absorbed enough nutrients yesterday!” Di Lin clambered onto Zuo Feng’s shoulders and pressed a kiss against Zuo Feng’s kiss with an audible smooching sound.

Zuo Feng’s ears immediately turned red, and he coughed lightly, “Let’s go downstairs. I have something to discuss after we finish eating.”

The adults took the children to the dining room. Zuo Zhihuan was already sitting there going over his work schedule for the day. He heard noises and looked up, first looking at his second-oldest son. He discovered that his child, who’d been deadly silent for the last few days, looked pretty good today.

Zuo Zhihuan had a mind to ask some questions, but he couldn’t be sure what was going on with Di Lin, so he asked nothing.

Di Lin took the initiative and crawled up from Zuo Feng’s back and greeted Zuo Zhiuan, “Hi Uncle.”

Though the term of address put him one generation younger, he was staying with the Zuos and in a relationship with Zuo Feng. It wouldn’t be appropriate for him to address Zuo Zhihuan as “bro” now.

Zuo Zhihuan was slightly stunned, “Di Lin?”

He knew about Lei Jue and the others having Pipi use the “fertilizer” to fertilize his “future daughter-in-law” yesterday. Though up until last night, he had believed the method to be too unbelievable, he had to be surprised at the sight of an actual person standing in front of him and giving him a cheerful greeting.

No wonder Xiao Zhiheng always had an amazed look about him whenever he talked about his grandson. He finally completely understood just how insanely strong Pipi’s abilities were.

Ding Yuwen sat down next to Zuo Zhihuan and said, “I did wonder why today seemed like such a good day. Something good really did happen.”

Zuo Nian said with a smile, “Do we need to reward Pipi?”

Di Lin thought, oh shit oh shit! Even my sister-in-law knows I’ve been peed on. Hate it!

Zuo Feng didn’t turn around to feel the awkwardness emanating from Di Lin, so he reached out and pulled Di Lin down to sit on his arm. He only had to think for a moment before stating, “Dad, mom. I want to get married.”

Zuo Zhihuan exchanged a look with his wife and nodded approvingly, “As long as you two are willing, that’s great.”

Zuo Feng asked Di Lin, “Okay?”

Di Lin didn’t answer.

When the entire table watched him, he said with an awkward smile, “Sure.”

Zuo Feng smiled and poured Di Lin a bowl of his favorite nutrient liquid. Di Lin sucked on it with a straw and seemed a bit distracted.

Xiao Lingyu asked Lei Jue with his eyes, What’s going on with Uncle?

Lei Jue glanced at Di Lin, and a teasing smile appeared on his lips. He hurriedly tapped out a message to Xiao Lingyu on his communicator.

Xiao Lingyu took advantage of a moment when nobody was watching and then glanced down at his communicator under the guise of checking the time. There were five words written on it, The trouble of being undocumented.
