Chapter 107 – Riding the Waves

In his tree person form, Kangkang was normally pretty hardy. But now that he’s been soaked in water, he was a bit soggy. Lei Jue placed a healing ball around him and cradled him in his palm. It was a while before the little guy sat up.

“Are you going to run off again?” Lei Jue poked at his son’s tiny tree hand and said, “Look how dangerous that was.”

Kangkang seemed to react finally and howled as he sat in Lei Jue’s hands. This was exactly how Pipi had acted when the lollipop had been taken from him. It was as if he had been abandoned by his parents, and the entire world had wished him ill; he was practically dying of suffering.

Xiao Lingyu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, “Come on, let’s go get changed and take care of the wounds. We’ll get someone to clean this up.”

Lei Jue suddenly realized why Zuo Feng would sometimes hold his uncle upside down. His son certainly needed that!

Kangkang sobbed for quite a while before he looked up at Lei Jue with tears still dripping down his face, “Mommy.”

Lei Jue’s fingers itched, and he had to hold back the temptation to flick his younger son’s forehead, “Hmm?”

Kangkang laid down and brushed his small face shamelessly against Lei Jue’s hands, “Mommy.”

Lei Jue: “….”

This little brat really did take after his granduncle!

Xiao Lingyu had the same thought. He poked at his shamelessly adorable son, “Kangkang, turn back, and daddy will get you nice and clean.”

The washing machine had exploded before it finished washing, and his tiny body still felt a bit sticky.

Kangkang obediently turned back. Xiao Lingyu and Lei Jue brought him straight to the bathroom. While Lei Jue washed Kangkang, Xiao Lingyu washed Lei Jue. When Lei Jue finished washing their son, he turned to look at Xiao Lingyu, “Pipi’s been good today. He hasn’t even howled for you once.”

Xiao Lingyu was just about to open his mouth and join in the compliments when the sound of someone banging on the door reached them, “Daddy! Open! Open! Daddy!”

Lei Jue: “…”

You brat, you sure are eager to prove me wrong. Did I throw away your milk or short you of diapers!

Lei Jue shoved their younger son into Xiao Lingyu’s arms. Then he put on clean clothes and waited until Xiao Lingyu tied a towel over his nether regions before he took their younger son out. As soon as the doors opened, Pipi slithered into the room and looked up with his face while sweetly calling out, “Daddy!”

Lei Jue shut the door, leaving the father and son to their loving routine. He dressed their younger son and then put him into bed with a bag of instant nutrients. And then…

“Dad, have you seen the little wooden box that I had on the bedside table?” Lei Jue paused in surprise at the sight of his empty bedside table. Shit, it’s gone! The box where he put the seed he was about to induce growth for!

“Pipi was playing with it, and I think he tossed it onto his bed,” Xiao Zhicheng tried to remember, “Was it something important?”

“It – it’s something I brought back from Mount Mao,” Lei Jue dug around Pipi’s bed and, as expected, he found the box. But when he opened it, there was no seed inside!

“Lingyu! Hurry and check if Pipi has something in his hands! Seeds!” Lei Jue pounded on the door from the outside. “Be careful; if it’s there, don’t damage it.”

Xiao Lingyu had just finished washing Pipi’s tiny feet and hadn’t realized the little guy had kept his fist closed this entire time. When he pried his fingers open, there really was a tiny seed inside. He carefully took the seed and brought it out to Lei Jue.

Lei Jue took a look. Thankfully it hadn’t been broken, but unfortunately, it hadn’t sprouted either.

Xiao Lingyu probably mentioned it to Xiao Zhicheng. so Xiao Zhicheng didn’t ask any more questions about the seed. He saw that his son and daughter-in-law had both come out and prepared to go back and prepare for his return to the military.

“Looks like we don’t have a way of making the seed sprout. Do you have any other ideas?” Xiao Lingyu remembered that Lei Jue’s Offspring Tree had sprouted when they produced intimacy pheromones. Back then, it had even sprouted while it was in the drawer. But this one had been left where Pipi could get to it, which meant it should be somewhere outside with easy access. He had made love with Lei Jue for hours last night, and it should have sprouted if the pheromones had any effect.

“Why don’t we give it some Pipi-fertilizer, and if there still wasn’t any effect…” Lei Jue paused. “How’s the greenhouse construction going?”

This time, they’re building their house slightly differently. In order to make it easy to transplant Little Odd Flower, the greenhouse was made to be extendable in either direction. So everything should fit, and there would be more things in the greenhouse in the future, not just Little Odd Flower.

He planned to move the little Golden Fruit Tree that grew out of Di Na’s wolf carving into the greenhouse as well.

“We should be able to start planting in a few days. They’re filling in the nutrient soil right now,” Xiao Lingyu answered, “What are you thinking?”

“We’ll let Pipi try. If there’s no effect, we’ll have to examine the other origin woods and try to find blood relatives and then put them together,” Those bigger pieces of origin woods were basically mostly the children’s parents. On the off chance that they really couldn’t revive the children, at least they wouldn’t be separated.

Xiao Lingyu agreed with Lei Jue’s idea. In the afternoon, Pipi finished his juice and also drank a lot of milk. Xiao Lingyu was just waiting for him to want to pee.

By this time, Pipi had a pretty good idea of his pee’s magical abilities. So when Xiao Lingyu told him to pee, he did. But the seed still showed no signs of sprouting.

Lei Jue washed the pearl-like seed clean and then stored it away. He asked Xiao Lingqi to see if he could figure out the genetic relationships between the origin wood they took back. If possible, he wanted to revive those bigger origin woods and then put the seedlings related to those origin woods next to them, just like putting a child next to their parents. Maybe the emotions from the parents would help induce growth in those seeds. Xiao Lingqi just straight up brought a set of equipment home. He didn’t take these origin wood to his laboratory. During the day, he worked on what he was supposed to do, and when he was done for the day, he would return home and help Lei Jue out.

This continued for about three days, during which Xiao Lingqi categorized the origin wood according to their genetic relationships, noted the relationship, and then carefully put them aside. Lei Jue used the marks on the wood and had Xiao Lingyu work with Pipi to induce growth in these origin woods one by one. He provided life energy to those bigger pieces of origin wood so that the sprouts grew faster and became Golden Fruit Tree saplings that were at least the size of a palm.

Lei Jue discovered that these origin wood grew much faster than Di Na’s. Though he’d frequently given Di Lin’s origin wood life energy ever since it sprouted, it was only about palm size now. But the other origin woods grew to that height in a day.

According to Lei Jue’s instructions, Xiao Lingyu planted those pieces of wood in separate patches with a large distance between them, “Should we plant the seeds too?”

Lei Jue hesitated for a bit and then answered, “Do it.”

So Xiao Lingyu thoughtfully planted every seed between its parents. If only one parent was available, the seed would also be close to that parent. After finishing the task, he repeatedly instructed Pipi and the other children to not touch the little trees or the seeds.

Though Pipi, Kangkang, and Qiuqiu couldn’t say many words, they did understand quite a few. After Xiao Lingyu left the children with instructions, he also summoned two of the robot guards from the family over to the greenhouse to guard these Golden Fruit Trees.

That only left Di Na’s tree to transplant. Lei Jue planned to do that after they moved Little Odd Flower so that Di Na’s tree can be planted beside Little Odd Flower. He couldn’t spend every minute with Di Na, but Little Odd Flower was practically another him, so that was still meaningful.

After a long period of labor, Lei Jue saw that it was getting late and returned to their room with Xiao Lingyu. He had just sat down to take a sip of water when he received a message from Uncle.

FakeCousin: Jue, Zuo Feng and I have decided to go and register our marriage tomorrow! Do you want to come along for the photoshoot?

Lei Jue asked Xiao Lingyu and confirmed that they were both available. He replied back, “When tomorrow?”

Di Lin answered that the sooner, the better, and then excitedly sent along a photo. Lei Jue discovered, to his surprise, that his Uncle’s Offspring Tree was already blooming!

Lei Jue: My fake cousin, did you and Zuo Feng spend every waking moment, aside from eating, on “inducing growth”?

How much intimacy pheromones did it take for the Offspring Tree to grow so quickly and even bloom! That was even faster than what happened to him and Xiao Lingyu!

FakeCousin: He said I was too perverted. I thought that since I was getting scolded anyway, I might as well live up to it.

Lei Jue had no words for that.

Zuo Feng rubbed at his waist and saw Di Lin sending messages to someone with a smile. Out of frustration, he got closer and saw that it was Lei Jue. Not only that, but Lei Jue now knew that he was the one getting screwed by Di Lin; he felt like puking blood!

“Do you have any self-awareness of being an elder? Telling him those things,” Though Zuo Feng sounded angry, his reddened ears made it seem like he was more embarrassed.

“Didn’t you call me a pervert?” Di Lin was now in human form. He leaned against the back of the bed and had one of his slender legs curled up, with his right hand casually placed on top of it. He set the photon brain aside and helped Zuo Feng rub his waist, “We’ve already done it, and you’re afraid of letting people know?”

“I did call you perverted! But I also asked you to tone it down! Besides, just exactly who is screwing who?” He was pretty happy watching the Offspring Tree grow so quickly and realizing that they’d have children soon. Actually, the entire family was pretty happy about it. But they couldn’t be stuck to each other like glue, completely inseparable, at every moment of the day aside from meal times and going to the bathroom!

“Hey, sweetie, look at you. I don’t want to be perverted, but you keep flirting with me. Maybe if you cure me, I’ll stop being perverted.”

Zuo Feng struggled, but Di Lin used branches to wrap around his body and made it so he couldn’t move!

Di Lin bit Zuo Feng’s ear, “My dear, don’t move. I don’t want to hurt you.”

If Zuo Feng didn’t move, he wouldn’t be Zuo Feng, “What kind of healing is this?!”

Di Lin licked Zuo Feng’s spine and said, “I’ll tell you tomorrow.”

Zuo Feng remained suspicious as he suffered the entire night. The next day, he woke up early in the morning to go register their marriage. He didn’t see Di Lin, but the bonsai in the flower pot had one of its branches extended and bent into four characters — “Riding ‘Feng’ and Shattering the Waves” [1].

So when Zuo Yan walked out of his bedroom, he was his “brother-in-law” – who would turn into a little tree human and try to get out of problems by being cute – rush out of his own room, howling, “Ahh! Hot, hot, hot, hot, hot, don’t burn me! I just said the truth! The truth!”

Zuo Yan had no comment.
