“What are you planning?” Zuo Zhihuan looked at his second son in confusion. The aircraft had been flying as it should be and they were almost home when Zuo Feng suddenly stood up and maneuvered the aircraft into a stop.

“My aircraft is almost here. I want to make a transfer,” Zuo Feng glanced down at his communicator, “Dad, Mom, I have something going on. I’m not going back yet.”

“O-oh?” Ding Yuwen felt like she was a bit over her head. Her son had not called her ‘mom’ this naturally in such a long time.

“What is so urgent?” Zuo Zhihuan asked calmly, even though he did not totally approve of his son’s actions. Truth to be told, Zuo Zhihuan didn’t want to leave his son by himself. Even if all of Casweir looked peaceful, there were sinister undercurrents floating about and they couldn’t predict what sorts of problems would crop up. At a critical time such as this, it would be better to reduce the number of times someone was by themselves.

“I’m just going to see a friend. I’ll be back after.” Zuo Feng responded and then stood by the transfer port. After about 5 seconds, Zuo Feng entered his aircraft through the port and departed straight away.

Zuo Zhihuan had the thought to check where his son was flying off to but discovered that the locate system failed when he tried to use the relative location sharing function.

What was going on?!

“Feng got Mr. Single to upgrade the AI assistant,” Zuo Qui said with a smile. “If he doesn’t want to be found, it will  be hard to locate him.”

“The brat has some guts not telling me where he’s going,” They were a military family and had many things they had to keep secret. It wasn’t exactly proper to have an outsider upgrade their AI assistant, even if Zuo Zhihuan acknowledged this Mr. Single’s skills.

Zuo Zhihuan couldn’t help but become more curious about Zuo Feng’s whereabouts.

In actuality, Zuo Feng had planned on returning home when he boarded the aircraft. He hadn’t been the one to chase Di Lin off and so, there was no reason for him to worry. Besides, why would he go chasing after an as*hole who ravaged his own master?

But he couldn’t settle down the entire flight. As soon as he realized that Di Lin was alone by himself in Haweila Palace, and could get into all sorts of danger, he felt agitated. This feeling was a lot like being the owner of a pet. You can bully it, but nobody else could.

Zuo Feng suspected that Di Lin slipped him some sort of aphrodisiac when he hadn’t been paying attention. The drug probably not only had the effect of making him think about this uninhibited tree-person but also caused him to become anxious.

Good thing he was self-aware. Since he was already so d*mned crazy, he might as well be a bit more demented.

Zuo Feng slowed down his aircraft’s speed. Right now he was still some distance away from Haweila Palace. The palace was well-guarded and he wouldn’t be able to directly fly in with his aircraft. He needed to find a believable reason, a reason that would let him return to the palace again.

After about two minutes, the guards stationed on the outermost perimeter of Haweila Palace discovered a flightcraft entering their area of patrol. The guard system immediately verified the visitor’s identity and reported it directly to the Chief of Staff, “Chief, it’s Marshal Zuo’s second son.”

“Zuo Feng?” The Chief of Staff turned around, puzzled. He thought about it for a bit and then headed out. He met Zuo Feng at the front gates of the palace and questioned him  with a smile, “Colonel Zuo, did you forget something, sir?”

“Not really,” Zuo Feng had both hands stuck in his pockets. He poked at the ground with the toes of his right foot and appeared nonchalant, no different than the rumored spoiled brat with a temper. His behavior seemed a bit over the top and also contained a hidden trace of arrogance. “Mr. Chief of Staff –” he smiled and said, “Could I trouble you with something?”

“You honor me, Colonel. If it’s something within my authority, I’m happy to help.”

“The thing is, when I was looking for something in the garden I saw a type of flower. I have no idea what it’s called, but it’s pretty and bloomed in patches. I was wondering if I could take a plant or two home,” Zuo Feng saw that the Chief of Staff was a bit confused and elaborated further with a cough, “I’d like to give it to someone as a gift, but I can’t seem to find it outside of the palace.”

“So that’s it. Colonel, please follow me,” The Chief of Staff brought Zuo Feng to the gardens of the main palace and stood outside the garden. He didn’t bother notifying Emperor Suron; he had worked at the palace for decades and had the authority to give a few flowers to someone. Besides, the Emperor had a long and exhausting day, and it wouldn’t be right to bother him over something so inconsequential.

Zuo Feng’s gaze didn’t stray but he kept chatting with the Chief of Staff. He didn’t raise his voice and it seemed like it was just idle chatter mixed with gratitude to the Chief of Staff for agreeing to his request. In reality, he just hoped an ungrateful little tree-person could hear his voice.

Sadly, nothing special happened the entire way to the gardens.

Zuo Feng stepped into the field of flowers he was talking about. The flower he mentioned was a purplish-blue and the petals appeared to be half-translucent. Each flower was about the size of a baby’s palm and had its own source of light. He found two that had relatively big blooms and also had buds. Zuo Feng turned around to ask the Chief of Staff, “Do you think I could take these two?”

“Of course,” The Chief of Staff crossed his hands over his abdomen and watched as Zuo Feng personally plucked the two plants from the ground.

“If I can win the heart of beauty with these, I’ll come back and thank you personally,.” Zuo Feng was about to walk out of the garden when his communicator sounded with a special ringtone. He looked at the name on the screen and hesitated over whether to pick up the call or not. In the end, he rejected the call.

“Mr. Chief of Staff, I heard that there’s a flower show going on in Lin City these days?”  Zuo Feng asked.

“That’s right. It’s being held at the Linhua Gardens.”

“Then, I’ll have to pay it a visit. Thank you very much for today,” Zuo Feng nodded, “Goodbye.”

“Please have a safe journey home, Colonel.” The Chief of Staff walked with Zuo Feng all the way to the front gates and watched until Zuo Feng boarded his aircraft and left. Only then did he return to the palace. The entire time, he kept a close eye on every move that Zuo Feng made to ensure that he didn’t leave behind anything strange or take anything strange away.

As for Zuo Feng, the first thing he did when the aircraft left Haweila Palace was to take off his clothes. He took off his shirt, pants, shoes, and socks until he was down to his underwear. But there was nothing! Then, like someone who’s lost his mind, he stretched out the elastic on his underwear and began to root around…

Are you ill or are you ill? You’re ill!

Zuo Feng pressed hard against his temples. Then he commanded Enoch to fly the ship towards Linhua Gardens. If Di Lin was around, he’d have heard, right?

Little jerk!

No, big jerk!

He did remember that the guy said he was 36.

A 36-year-old human-shaped pervert, a pervert who was into feeler-play and someone who turned into a shameless tree-person.

Zuo Feng disembarked his aircraft again and found a hotel near the Linhua Gardens to stay in. As for the so-called ‘big feeler monster’, he was still in the gardens that Zuo Feng had just left.

Di Lin had to use all his strength to resist crawling into Zuo Feng’s pant legs. According to his original plan, he would leave as soon as he confirmed Emperor Surong’s death. But when he saw the old guy he realized something shocking. Emperor Surong had drank the blood of a child from Di Lin’s clan! Even though the old guy used copious amounts of cologne to try and cover the scent, Di Lin would never mistake the scent that had been carved into his bones.

That was blood from his clan and the purest thing a child of his clan had. That will make the nightleisure bug poison ineffective on the old guy, which meant the old man wouldn’t die of the bug bite. If they wanted the Emperor to die of a nightleisure bug bite, they had to wait for just the right moment.

He had waited for so many years already that Di Lin thought he wouldn’t mind a few more days. But when he planted his roots in the garden by himself, he realized that he, too, felt lonely

Especially when Zuo Feng left; he had almost extended a branch to stop Zuo Feng from leaving.

He never would have thought that Zuo Feng would come back just to look for him. The guy usually looked at him like he owed Zuo Feng everything in the world, but he actually came back for him.

It must be because he was great in bed! It hasn’t been a hot minute and yet Zuo Feng already missed him!

The little tree-person, who had been wilted just a second before, suddenly straightened up proudly, without the slightest idea how many people he’d  worried because he had disappeared.

“Don’t worry, Uncle will be fine,” Xiao Lingyu comforted Lei Jue. Since it was daytime in Bulacca City, they hadn’t rested when they returned. Plus, with Uncle missing, they couldn’t help but fret.

“I just can’t figure out why he needs to stay there by himself. If there’s a problem, wouldn’t it be faster for all of us to think of a solution?” When Lei Jue planted the two nightleisure bugs on Emperor Suron, he had given the command for them to attack at night. But till now, nothing abnormal had come out of Haweila Palace, which clearly meant that Emperor Suron wasn’t in trouble. He couldn’t be sure whether this had anything to do with Uncle.

“Right now, there are two possibilities.” Xiao Lingyu analyzed. “One, Uncle knows something we don’t but isn’t in a position to tell us. Two, he wants to protect us so he delayed the time of the nightleisure bugs’ attack. After all, there’s a certain amount of risk involved in using the nightleisure bug poison to kill Mr. Huang.”

“But Uncle doesn’t have the ability to control animals.” Lei Jue was very certain of that.

“But he can turn into plants, any type of plant. Don’t forget how he caught those nightleisure bugs in the first place. If he wants to, he could totally hide the bugs within his body and stop them from eating anything. Once the bugs are starved for a bit, he’ll let them out. Can you be certain they won’t bite anyone then? They’re not herbivores.”

Lei Jue didn’t have any rebuttal and thought about how much truth there was to Xiao Lingyu’s words.

Zuo Feng stayed where he was. He hadn’t rested this entire time but, despite this, his mind was unnaturally clear. He knew that when he arrived at the hotel it was dark, but now it was almost daylight.

He thought Di Lin probably wasn’t coming back for real.

“Check out,” Zuo Feng looked murderous as he checked out with the robot staff. Then, he flew straight back to his home in Huainan. The first thing he did when he walked into his room was to smash the pot that Di Lin often rooted in.

The porcelain pot shattered against the floor with a loud clang and the nutrient dirt spilled everywhere.

To Zuo Feng’s surprise, there was a piece of ‘bark’ hidden in the pile of dirt.
