“Someone like her dares to dream of becoming a princess?” Prince Sulan’s voice was filled with sarcastic disdain as he answered the other person on the phone, “Give her some money and send her on her way. What a fool to think that getting into my bed means she could be with me in public. What a joke.”

“What if she continues to seek you out?” The person in the communicator asked cautiously.

“Then make sure to send her somewhere where she can never find me. After all, she’s just a b*tch,” With that, Prince Sulan’s lips curved and he cut off the communication. The guards around him seemed to be used to his morals. None of them gave the slightest reaction.

“Only you guys are clean and fragrant,” Prince Sulan lowered his head and smiled as he gently sniffed the flower in front of him, “To be my princess, they should at least smell as nice as you do, right? Come to think of it, that Lei Jue does have a special fragrance to him. Such a shame that he’s been defiled by Xiao Lingyu. The gods are certainly blind to give such a beauty to a dirty stallion,” Prince Sulan turned around to look at the fearfully obedient servant behind him, “Fan, don’t you think the reality is unfair? Clearly there are better people around, but it has to be those…”

“Your Majesty! The light’s too strong; why don’t we come inside and talk about it?” Fan didn’t dare continue the conversation. If the Emperor found out, there’d be hell to pay!

“Coward,” Prince Sulan let out a small snort but dropped the conversation. He turned to his palace, unaware that the nightleisure bugs Di Lin let out had already crawled into his pant legs.

Di Lin watched the retreating figure and got increasingly anxious because the further Prince Sulan got, the more disadvantageous it would be to his plan.

Why haven’t the two bugs bitten him yet?! Did they get stupid from hunger?!

In the end, Di Lin couldn’t wait anymore. He unobtrusively pulled out his “roots,” shrank himself even further, and then ran through the gardens. Because he was tiny, nobody detected anything weird. He ran as fast as he could in an effort to get as close to Prince Sulan as possible!

Ten meters…eight meters…six meters…

“Your Majesty!” The person called “Fan” suddenly yelped as he saw the Prince suddenly collapse, foaming at the mouth, in the middle of his walk. Fan’s face paled, and he yelled, “Someone come help!” He hurriedly held his master, “Your Majesty, what happened?”

“Fan, what happened?” Chief of Staff De Lin rushed in as soon as he could and directed someone to fetch a B rank wood elemental ability user and for the head of guards to increase security in case someone suspicious had appeared.

“Dr. Qin, please come find out what happened to his majesty,” Chief of staff De Lin already knew things were bad but he still asked with a trace of hope.

“His Majesty has been poisoned.” Dr. Qin examined the situation using a bit of wood elemental ability and then tried to detect Prince Sulan’s breath at his nostrils. Then he frowned and declared, “Chief of Staff De Lin, I’m very sorry, but His Majesty is already…”

Though Dr. Qin didn’t finish his sentence, anyone with eyes could tell that Prince Sulan had died immediately and violently, and there was nothing else to do.

Prince Sulan’s skin was changing color at a detectable speed, becoming darker and darker as if his blood was being replaced by ink.

“Hurry and notify the Emperor!” In a rare occurrence, Chief of Staff De Lin lost his composure.

“Fan, put His Majesty down,” Dr. Qin directed, “Also, Chief of Staff De Lin, his majesty’s body might still contain what poisoned him, so it’s best to seal off this area and increase security. This should help prevent the loss of evidence.”

“Hurry up and do as Dr. Qin says!” Chief of Staff De Lin wiped the sweat from his forehead and hurried forward when he saw Emperor Suron walk out from the main palace. But as he got closer to Emperor Suron, he paused slightly, and a flash of disappointment appeared and quickly disappeared in his eyes before he lowered his head.

“Sulan! Sulan! My grandson…” Emperor Suron walked closer to Prince Sulan and tossed his staff aside. He squatted down and was about to reach out when Dr. Qin immediately stopped him and told him not to touch Prince Sulan’s body.

Emperor Suron’s eyes reddened with tears. Di Lin watched from the shadows of the flower bushes and carefully let out the more poisonous of the two remaining nightleisure bugs, which was also the only male bug of the bunch. But he didn’t let the nightleisure bug crawl onto Emperor Suron by itself. Right now, everyone was on high alert, and it was very likely that the bug would be squashed to death before it reached its target.

But there was only one chance. After drinking the blood of his clansmen, if he didn’t continue drinking the blood, Emperor Suron would become photophobic. Only under strong light would the demon’s body be damaged, and he didn’t know when Emperor Suron would next appear under strong light.

Di Lin bit his lip. He couldn’t think too much now. He lengthened his roots underground until it reached the other end of the flower bush. Then it wriggled out of the ground, and he used a part of his roots to hold onto some flowers and shake them violently.

The sound of rustling came from the bushes and immediately attracted the attention of Chief of Staff De Lin and the others. Very quickly, someone went to check it out. Then Di Lin withdrew his roots, and when someone reached the spot, he reached out and shook another branch. That way, he attracted everyone’s attention first and then let out the nightleisure bug.

Nightleisure bugs crawled fast and they weren’t very big. They just needed a bit of time.

Di Lin created distractions here and there and prayed the nightleisure bugs wouldn’t be discovered.

The poison from that nightleisure bug was enough to give Emperor Suron a violent death on the spot!

That’s right, crawl faster!

Almost there, almost there!

Sweat dripped down Di Lin’s back as he watched the nightleisure bug crawl straight toward Emperor Suron. Lei Jue had specially “trained” this male bug, so it knew its target very well.

“Seal off the entire garden!” The head guard suddenly declared. Twenty robot guards immediately flew in as he demanded, “Don’t let even a bug fly out!”

“Yes, Sir!”

Tsk, am I afraid of you? I can get out even from the ground!

Di Lin exposed a tiny bud on the ground and cut off the root that he had used to attract everyone’s attention. After that, he watched as the nightleisure bug successfully crawled into Emperor Suron’s pants. As expected, a few seconds later, Emperor Suron also collapsed on the ground, foaming at the mouth!

“Emperor?!”

“Dr. Qin!” The Empress, who had rushed in at the news, knelt on the ground as her feet gave out from underneath her. Everyone who could come came, and the outer perimeter of the garden instantly turned chaotic.

Di Lin watched all of this unfold coldly and ultimately decided to escape via the ground.

But in the next second, something the head of the guard said made him stop in his tracks.

“Chief of Staff, Marshal Zuo’s second son had just paid a visit. Could this have something to do with him?” The timing was coincidental. Plus, that guy came to the front gardens twice.

“That’s a possibility. But don’t say anything for now.” After Chief of Staff De Lin instructed the head guard, he saw the Interstellar Federal Police had arrived and hurried to greet them.

Di Lin watched Chief of Staff De Lin and the head of the guard converse and felt something weird was going on. But the police were here, and he didn’t have much time to think deeply. In order to avoid being discovered, he hurriedly moved his roots toward the southside. Only when he escaped the surroundings of the Haweila Palace did he let himself grow a bit bigger.

He has to warn his little Feng!

Since he didn’t have his communicator, Di Lin could only try to get back to Huainan as fast as possible. But it was broad daylight now, and as a plant, he couldn’t make it too obvious that he was moving. Though if he relied on moving using his root system, it would be so much slower than moving on the ground.

What to do?

Just as Di Lin was debating whether to go to a hovercar station, a net suddenly fell on top of him and captured him in one fell swoop!

He couldn’t be sure whether this was an enemy or a friend and didn’t dare move, but his brain processed information at superspeed!

Who could it be? Who could find his exact information and capture him?!

The net was made of a special material, and it was impossible to break the thread. Di Lin fretted so much he almost sweated tree sap, but in the next second, something came in and scooped him up and quickly took him away from where he was! It felt like a bird coming in from the sky, scooping him up in its beak, and then rapidly flying away towards some unknown destination.

If his surroundings hadn’t been this sturdy, Di Lin would suspect that he was in the stomach of some bird.

He didn’t dare speak, but was worried he was getting further away from Zuo Feng. Just as he was about to enlarge himself to try and break through the barrier, a familiar voice spoke up.

“Uncle, don’t worry,” Lei Jue said, “You’re on a special aircraft that Xingyu organized. You should be arriving at Bulacca City in about half an hour.”

“Jue? Thank goodness. Can you hear me?”

“Yes.”

。”

“Good. Then tell Lingyu I need to go back to Huainan. There’s something I need to do with Zuo Feng,” Di Lin relaxed once he realized he hadn’t been kidnapped, “Before Zuo Feng left he came back to Haweila Palaces so he might be in trouble.”

“If you go find him now he’ll just be in more trouble. Since he didn’t do it, him not knowing anything is actually safer for him,” Xiao Lingyu’s voice said, “Uncle, why don’t you come back to Bulacca City first. I’ll figure something out for Zuo Feng.”

“But I left a message in the communicator with Zuo Feng and told him that I was going to seek revenge. If he saw that, he’ll definitely figure out that Emperor Suron’s death has something to do with me.” Di Lin knew that his anxiousness was making things worse. If he thought carefully about what Xiao Lingyu said, it made sense. At a time like this, the less Zuo Feng knew, the better. Otherwise, if they used hypnosis or intercepted his consciousness, they could find out things from Zuo Feng during the investigation. This time he had made a mistake. If he had the foresight, he shouldn’t have left any information with Zuo Feng.

“Very well, then I’ll send you back to Huainan.” Xiao Lingyu took over the aircraft’s directions and adjusted it to the new destination.

“Oh right, what happened after I left?” Di Lin asked.

“It’s a mess there. Uncle, can you tell us why you needed to take care of things personally?” Lei Jue still couldn’t figure that out.

“Because I discovered that Emperor Suron drank the blood of our clan members. You saw how old he was; that has something to do with our blood. That’s why he’s like that. That kind of person can really only be harmed under strong light.”

“Got it. Then we’ll talk about the details when we meet up. We’ll try to control Zuo Feng first. Your departure seemed to have pissed him off,” Lei Jue smiled and said, “You should probably think about how to pacify my ‘Aunt’s’ anger during this time.”

“That’s fine. My mission is temporarily done and I have all the time to spend on him.” Di Lin also smiled. He didn’t hear a reply and therefore started seriously contemplating how to talk about the recent events with Zuo Feng.

After Lei Jue cut off the communication, he looked at Xiao Lingyu and then looked at the projection on the wall. The image froze at a chaotic scene in Haweila Palace.

Before, they couldn’t be sure why Uncle needed to personally take care of Emperor Suron, but now they did. Right now, they suspected that the person who died was probably the real Emperor Suron. If that was really him, the Chief of Staff De Lin and the Head of the Guards shouldn’t be this calm on the image displayed on the screen.

Xiao Lingyu chose real-time surveillance and watched as the image started moving again. Outside Haweila Palace, the gardens were surrounded by several dozens of people. What a sight that was. Except these people didn’t know that the real assassin has long since escaped.

During the time Di Lin spent in the special aircraft, he thought of 108 ways to make things up to his wife.

In some room in the Haweila Palace, an old man with devilish eyes thought of 108 ways to steal something.

“Emperor, are you sure you’d like to hide your identity after this?” A young man asked next to Emperor Suron.

“Why not? This makes it easy to act without worrying,” Emperor Suron, who should have been dead, watched the police busy themselves outside taking care of the body and trying to find clues, “What did you find out?”

“From all the photos that have been released by the Xiao’s, the three kids all wear hats most of the time. But their eldest has always worn a hat in every photo, without exception. The trouble is that these kids are personally cared for by Xiao Lingyu and Lei Jue, so the probability of getting our hands on them is low. Besides, the Xiao’s really valued these children. In fact, the entire Northern Ling military district values them.”

“Fortune favors the bold. There’ll be a chance,” Emperor Suron rolled up his sleeve a bit and then looked at the body that was finally treated for toxins. He smiled thinly and said, “For better or worse he’s pretended to be me for so many years. Give him a decent burial.”

“Prince Sulan..”

“A grandson who wished me an early death. His death doesn’t matter.” With that, Emperor Suron turned around and left without a backward glance.

Not long after, the news of Emperor Suron and Prince Sulan’s death spread through Casweir. The various media outlets battled it out over their reporting of this incident. But for the majority of Casweir’s citizens, this was just fodder for dinner or tea time gossip. After all,  the “monarchy” had long ceased to exist, and whether the people in the palaces lived or died was of no concern to them.

But for Zuo Feng, far away, this was a question that couldn’t be ignored.

He just found out that Di Lin was out to get revenge, and then Emperor Suron and Prince Sulan both died. Was this Di Lin’s doing?! Then where was Di Lin?

Zuo Feng had a stomach full of questions and nowhere to ask them. He was about to turn blue from frustration when his communicator pinged. He raised his wrist up for a look and found that it was actually Mr. Single who sent him a message.

–The person you’re waiting for will be arriving shortly. Please wait at home.

Now Zuo Feng was even more certain that Di Lin was Mr. Single!

How else would he know that he was waiting for him?!

But he dared to make him wait?

Zuo Feng’s lips twitched and 108 ways of beating Di Lin up flashed through his mind!
