What did Zuo Feng do?

That was Xiao Lingyu and Lei Jue’s first question as they caught sight of Zuo Feng and their uncle, in tree-human form, in Zuo Feng’s grasp. When Zuo Feng tossed their uncle onto the coffee table and then sat down as casually as if this was his home, nobody seemed to realize that Zuo Feng was already acting the role of an elder despite nobody really considering him an elder.

Xiao Lingyu and Lei Jue didn’t know what step of the reconciliation program Zuo Feng and their Uncle had reached, so they made no mention of what happened to Emperor Suron. Despite that, their Uncle crawled up a little while after being tossed onto the coffee table and made his way to the edge of the coffee table, where he sat down with his legs crossed. He demanded with a smirk, “Lingyu, how’s it looking in Haweila Palace?”

His adorable face coupled with that extremely self-satisfied tone almost made Qi Yu and the others spit out their drink. Luckily they remembered the little tree-human was their elder and forced the laughter back down.

“It looks chaotic but there’s a hidden order in the mess,” Xiao Lingyun answered, “Right now it looks like the Empress and Prince Suhe, who’s Prince Sulan’s cousin, are in charge. Additionally, the police might bring Zuo Feng in for a talk but that’s nothing to worry about.”

“Why does Zuo Feng need to be investigated?” Che Heng asked curiously. Was Zuo Feng involved in this?

“Why shouldn’t we worry about Zuo Feng getting investigated? What if they use a lie detector or some other consciousness interfering device?” Di Lin was more worried about Zuo Feng.

Zuo Feng didn’t say anything but he watched Xiao Lingyu, clearly interested in what Xiao Lingyu had to say.

“If it’s a lie detection machine or any other kind of conscience interfering device, I can do something to it remotely. But it’s probably not likely they’ll resort to those methods since the real Emperor Suron didn’t die. In order to not expose the truth, someone will make sure this doesn’t get blown up,” Xiao Lingyu immediately saw Uncle’s face darkened, “Really Uncle, don’t you remember what you said before? Since Emperor Suron had drunk the blood of a Gold Fruit Tree Clan child, he could only be hurt under strong light. Which means that, to some extent, he’s afraid of strong light. That made him get a body double. I think that it was the body double who attended all the events held during daytime. Of course, it was also the body double who died.”

“Uncle, you weren’t wrong to try and use Prince Sulan to get to Emperor Suron. But Emperor Suron is too cold-blooded and used this opportunity to go into hiding,” Lei Jue continued, “Lingyu and I think that he’s too eager.”

“You’re right. He’s already 80 this year. I don’t know how long it’s been since he’s sucked the blood of a child from our clan, but judging from how much he’s aged, it’s clearly been a while. Usually, death comes after five or six years of not drinking in blood.” Di Lin thought about what the children of his clan would go through and felt another wave of hatred rise in him. Then, he thought about how long he had held himself back and even dragged Zuo Feng into this mess and still ended up killing the wrong person. The hatred rose even more until he could think of nothing but skinning Emperor Suron alive.

“Let me interrupt. You mean that Emperor Suron has to drink the blood of a child from the Gold Fruit Tree clan in order to survive?” Zuo Feng asked.

He had already seen a lot of the information on Di Lin’s communicator, the one that looked like a piece of tree bark. But he hadn’t been clear on exactly why Di Lin hated Emperor Suron, he just knew that it had something to do with killing Di Lin’s family. He had wanted to ask Di Lin on their way here, but he was still angry at Di Lin and hadn’t said anything.

“That’s right, and his next target could be Pipi.” Di Lin said and then suddenly jumped off the coffee table. He ran up to the bed, where the little chubby child was playing with his toys. He clambered onto the bedrails and looked like he wanted to play with his grandson, but who knew that dreams were meant to be broken!

Pipi saw the little tree person and had, at first, thought that his younger brother’s tree person form had grown up. But when he turned around, he saw that his brother was playing on his own bed. As soon as he realized this wasn’t his younger brother, he immediately tossed his toys aside and grabbed a hold of Di Lin!

This wasn’t his brother. He could play with this!

Pipi pulled at Di Lin’s arm and yanked on Di Lin’s hair. Di Lin got scared and lengthened his arm to try and grab a hold of the bedrails and get away. Though he moved fast, Pipi wasn’t exactly slow either. Pipi noticed that his new toy was running away and immediately created a gold ball of electricity on his chubby fingers and tried to shock it. The cackle of electricity made everyone’s ears tingle.

Xiao Lingyu rushed over and held his son, “Don’t do that. That’s granduncle!”

Di Lin collapsed onto Pipi’s crib and didn’t even have the energy to roll his eyes.

Pipi was unhappy at his “toy” being taken away and struggled to get back on the bed, “Dad, dad, want!”

“Want, what want?” Xiao Lingyu grabbed his son’s tiny arm and explained, “You can’t play with that. That’s granduncle.”

“Want!”

“You can’t want!”

“He can say that at such a young age?” Zuo Feng was a bit surprised. How high must his IQ be and how fast was he developing?

“Isn’t that amazing?” Uncle, who had been lying there like a dead fish, suddenly revived himself and ran up to Zuo Feng. He looked up with wide eyes, straight into Zuo Feng’s eyes, “I’m telling you that our children can be like that too!”

“You shut up!” Zuo Feng’s ears immediately turned red. This was about as awkward as it could get!

Xiao Lingyu and Lei Jue held back their laughter, while Lu Xian and the others cycled through several expressions.

Their Uncle and Zuo Feng?! Wasn’t that cross-generation?

“Then Lingyu, do you call Zuo Feng ‘Auntie’?” Qi Yu, who didn’t really have a filter when he was with his best mates, asked without thinking, “Wait no, shouldn’t that be ‘Uncle’?”

“Do you want to fight?” Zuo Feng’s face tensed and smoke almost came out of his ears, though it wasn’t certain whether that was out of embarrassment or anger.

“Sure, I’m not afraid of you. I haven’t seen what an A-rank fire elemental user is like,” Qi Yu stood up. “Lingyu, can we use the yard?”

“Sure, we do have three healers after all. As long as you don’t kill each other the rest is up to you,” With that, Xiao Lingyu let Pipi ride on his neck. “Let’s go, son. Daddy will take you to see a real life sparring.”

“Dad!”

“Yup!” Xiao Lingyu gently patted Pipi’s tiny back.

Lei Jue picked up their daughter and let their younger son climb onto his shoulder.

Zuo Feng saw that Kangkang had turned into a little tree person as well and was actually even cuter than Di Lin. He couldn’t help but give Kangkang a few extra glances before walking out. When he walked out, he noticed Qi Yu’s metamorphosis form was a two meter long pure white snow wolf.

Nevermind Zuo Feng, even Lei Jue had never seen Qi Yu’s metamorphosis form.

Xiao Lei had been lazing about in the yard outside when a wolf suddenly appeared. He stood up on alert and walked over, only strolling back lazily when he smelled the familiar scent.

He thought he’d have a chance to show up, but it was his master’s friend!

The snow wolf moved extremely fast. As soon as Zuo Feng tossed out his fireball, the wolf had agilely moved out of the area of attack and flew at Zuo Feng. This time, Zou Feng didn’t use a flame based attack and simply relied on his brute strength to stand up to the snow wolf’s attack. The snow wolf was about to bite when, just as his jaws opened, there were two crackling sounds and lightning struck down from the sky. The powerful pure gold natural energy landed on either side of the human and the wolf and, before they could react, another giant ball of gold enveloped them!

“Dad! Dad!” Pipi pointed at the giant ball of light he made and looked eagerly at Xiao Lingyu, asking for praise. Kangkang saw what his older brother was playing at and hurriedly followed suit. He shifted back into human form and then added a layer of metal natural energy onto the gold ball of light, expanding the ball.

“Hey, Kangkang stop! You two will scare granduncle and uncle Qi Yu like this, do you know that?” Xiao Lingyu exclaimed as he watched the two people inside the ball adopt a “are you kidding me?” look and could guess at how frustrated they were.

“Pipi, Kangkang, that’s not good. That hurty.” Lei Jue squeezed his son’s foot and then forcibly used his wood natural energy to cleave the gold ball of light. At first he struggled against it, but with Qiuqiu’s help, things became easier.

Zuo Feng and Qi Yu hurriedly rushed out of that frigging gold ball. All of the momentum they had been gathering was now gone. These damned, bloody children were too frightening!

Pipi was a bit unhappy and whined as he held onto Xiao Lingyu’s head, but he knew that Daddy and Mommy were right so he stopped causing trouble.

Zuo Feng and Qi Yu weren’t really keen on fighting, this was just a rare opportunity to do so since someone could heal them no matter how heavily injured they got. So, they wanted to have a sparring match with someone legendary. Who’d have thought that they’d be toyed with by those two brats.

“There will be more chances for you to compete against each other. No rush now,” Lei Jue looked at Di Lin. “Uncle, how about you and Zuo Feng stay here tonight?”

“No problem,” Di Lin answered readily and then looked pleadingly at Zuo Feng. He was always cute as a little tree-person and, though Zuo Feng refused to admit it, he had a hard time resisting the tree person.

As expected, Zuo Feng didn’t object.

Zuo Feng really did want to figure out if Xiao Lingyu was Mr. Single since Xiao Lingyu had made it sound easy to do something to that equipment remotely. Clearly, this was not the first time that he had done so. Besides, there were other things he wanted to ask Xiao Lingyu and Lei Jue.

The Xiao’s lacked for nothing, especially not various types of multifunctional homes. Their family had at least five sets lying around just in case, so it was extremely easy for them to make one for Zuo Feng and Di Ling. That’s how Zuo Feng and Di Lin settled in.

Zuo Feng only found out after he settled down that Lu Xian and Qi Yu and the other two were living with the Xiaos as well. Xiao Lingyu’s grandmother and Marshal Xiao as well as Mrs. Xiao were out on something that has to do with Mrs. Xiao’s family.

Zuo Feng didn’t ask for details and stayed in the same room with Di Lin that night.

That day, the interstellar police didn’t come for Zuo Feng and the night passed fairly quietly. But, by the time everyone woke the next day, even the air seemed to be filled with the scent of danger.

Xiao Lingyu was brushing his teeth when Yu Le’s message reached them.

— Boss, there were two armed groups, not part of the regular corp, that arrived in Bulacca City. I’m sending you their precise location now and we’ll have an analysis on their abilities in about an hour.

“What is it?” Lei Jue noticed that Xiao Lingyu was getting distracted half-way through brushing his teeth and asked.

“Two groups of armed people arrived in Bulacca City last night,” Xiao Lingyu finished brushing his teeth and answered, “The fake Mr. Huang is scheduled to be buried in about nine days and maybe that one will make a move that day.” Because theoretically, most people’s attention would be on the memorial that day.
