Chapter 99 – Spider?

There was an instant when Di Lin suspected that Zuo Feng had been possessed by Lei Jue. With just one sentence, he made Di Lin feel like his heart was catching on fire and about to burn him into a crisp from inside out.

But when he thought about it carefully, Zuo Feng was different from Lei Jue. Lei Jue was utterly shameless and never felt embarrassed at outwardly seducing Xiao Lingyu. Nothing was off-limits. Seduction was something that came as easy as breathing to Lei Jue, but Zuo Feng’s ears would turn red at anything that was remotely suggestive.

But Di Lin loved that about him! He liked watching Zuo Feng become all flustered and wanting to resist but not really being able to. And now this clumsy attempt at trying to flirt with him. AHHHHH!

F*ck!

Di Lin’s breathing turned chaotic, and he used all of his strength to grip Zuo Feng’s hand.

Zuo Feng squeezed back and gently scratched at Di Lin’s palms. He wasn’t good with words and didn’t know how to say sweet nothings. But he can use his actions to show Di Lin how much he liked Di Lin.

Zuo Feng bent down and gently bit Di Lin’s ear. Di Lin felt his heart turning into ash…

He couldn’t help but turn his arm into branches and hook them around Zuo Feng’s neck. He pressed Zuo Feng closer to him and started kissing the man. He didn’t have the energy to go all the way, but he could give this kiss everything he’s got and make it one to remember!

When Di Lin kissed Zuo Feng, he would sometimes suck or gently bite the lips. His agile tongue stuck itself into Zuo Feng’s mouth and moved about possessively.

Zuo Feng had only wanted to see if the Offspring Tree would grow as Lei Jue said it would if they followed Lei Jue’s instructions. But as the kiss went on, Zuo Feng realized he couldn’t pay it much attention. He had nothing to spare for the tree. His heart, mind, eyes, and world were filled with the person kissing him!

Zuo Feng really did love Di Lin. At first, he liked the strange way Di Lin had appeared in his life, liked how special he was, and liked how much Di Lin relied on him. The feeling that Di Lin was only close to him made him feel inexplicably satisfied.

At first, it was a strange kind of possessiveness. But later, that possessiveness transformed under strange circumstances. Just possessing that person’s body wasn’t enough. He had to carve his name into the other’s soul.

Truth be told, he had felt a bit awkward when he and Di Lin had first gotten together. He felt a bit ashamed and a bit embarrassed. But Di Lin was especially good at pretending to be sad and then acting adorable whenever he managed to take advantage of him.

He was so cute and followed him around like a puppy, healing him at the slightest sign of discomfort. That made staying angry at the guy slightly difficult. Everything started with Zuo Feng letting things go once or twice and then resulted in him being completely taken in.

Di Lin licked Zuo Feng’s lips and heard a crack as if something was splitting open. Di Lin hurriedly let go of Zuo Feng and turned around to look. The pot they had just put the tree in was split open by the mightily expanding roots!

That’s amazing, nephew! This really works!

At this, Di Lin somehow found the strength to flip their position so that Zuo Feng was underneath him. His wound was covered by a thin layer of skin-toned plant cells to prevent infection from setting it. It looked a bit like the mask he wore from before; while it did reduce his beauty, at least it was a sight better than a raw wound.

For the first time, Zuo Feng didn’t resist. He even pulled Di Lin’s hand and placed it over the buttons of his shirt.

As Lei Jue waited outside with the kids for the merchants to deliver the houses, he saw the rapidly growing Gold Fruit Tree behind a certain window and exclaimed, “Tsk, tsk, tsk. Pipi, do you think your granduncle’s Offspring Tree will pierce a hole through the house in a bit?”

Pipi pouted. He didn’t care about things he didn’t understand. He wanted Daddy!

“Daddy!” Pipi slapped at Lei Jue’s chest, “Down!”

“You can’t go down. But since you called me Daddy, I’ll take you to find Auntie Nian, okay?” Lei Jue stood up and pulled the other son, about to crawl into his pants, onto his shoulder. He walked over to the main building.

They had been in the ecosphere, but Pipi’s mood had turned mercurial, so he had no other choice but to take them out. That only left Qiuqiu and Mrs. Zuo in the ecosphere. As for Zuo Nian, she said she’d go find some toys.

“Down!” Pipi looked insistently at the gate to the family home. Then Lei Jue suddenly realized that he’d gotten the wrong impression.

“You two sure have a connection,” Lei Jue watched Xiao Lingyu walk toward him and put Pipi on the ground. He didn’t even know how jealous he sounded.

“Well, we are father and son after all,” Xiao Lingyu said smilingly as he squatted down and spread out his arms, “Come on Pipi, come to daddy. You can do it.”

“Daddy!” Pipi struggled to keep his balance and walk over there. He threw himself into Xiao Lingyu’s arms. “Daddy!”

“Hiya, my baby boy.” Xiao Lingyu lifted him in the air, and his heart lightened at the sound of Pipi’s giggles.

“How’d you get in?” Lei Jue asked. This was the Zuo family home, not the Xiao family home. Though he knew that it wasn’t impossible for Xiao Lingyu to sneak in without anyone knowing, Xiao Lingyu wasn’t one to do that without reason.

“Uncle Zuo was on the way. He probably got the message to come back and meet his ‘daughter-in-law,’ so I got in touch on my way here. He probably told the people I was coming,” Xiao Lingyu gently stroked the leaf on his son’s head, “Where’s Qiuqiu? Playing with Auntie Zuo?”

“Yeah,” Lei Jue then glanced over at Zuo Feng’s room. He said with a teasing smile, “You should probably think of something to distract Uncle Zuo for a bit,” He had rushed back, and if he wanted to see Uncle now things would get awkward.

“What is it?” Xiao Lingyu didn’t quite get it, mostly because Uncle’s health didn’t allow him to think about that.

“Look over there,” Lei Jue pointed at Zuo Feng’s window, “See anything interesting?”

Xiao Lingyu: “…”

That insane speed of growth was definitely more than just simple flirting. But come to think of it, could Uncle do anything in his state?

Though that was a consideration, Xiao Lingyu did decide to find Zuo Zhihuan as soon as he came back and talk about the Haweila Palace investigation.

Though while Emperor Suron had been “alive,” he had not participated in making political decisions, but his “death” did still cause the balance of power to tilt. The Parliament had always been divided into several cliques. Party Leader Li led the group that was more in favor of personal gains. In contrast, the Vice Party Leader led the group that wanted authority. There was another group that was outside of both, who sought to work for the country and for justice.

Of course, there were still a few that didn’t want to align with any of the groups.

But now, Emperor Suron “died,” the Vice Party Leader had been stripped of his title and was now under investigation. Parliament needed to undergo a shift in personnel and he wanted to see what Zuo Zhihuan felt about it all.

Though Xiao Lingyu wasn’t able to find any information on how to save Di Lin through the latest round of searching Haweila Palace, he still found other things. At least now, he was very certain that the Golden Fruit Tree Clan on Maikalun had indeed left Casweir several hundred years ago. Part of the reason was the greed of the royal family.

In order to achieve eternal life, those people thought nothing of sacrificing other people’s lives. They kept the Golden Fruit Tree Clan people locked up and feasted on their children’s blood to get a healthier body and younger-looking features. This occurred until nobody in the Golden Fruit Tree clan could put up with the torture anymore, and those that could escape Casweir did.

Xiao Lingyu looked at his innocently smiling children and couldn’t imagine what would happen if his children were used as a source of blood.

He probably wouldn’t feel satisfied even when he burned them to ash and scattered those ashes to the four corners of the world.

“If, I’m saying if, the truth gets exposed, would Parliament send people to fetch my clans’ people back here from Maikalun?” Lei Jue asked this question with a fair bit of opposition in his voice, “If that’s a possibility, I hope that we can vote against it.”

The Golden Fruit Tree Clan had finally escaped and started a peaceful life. If that gets interrupted again, it might be the beginning of a new round of nightmares. That would definitely not be something that either Di Na or Lei Jianwei wanted to see.

“Dad and the others will definitely oppose the suggestion. The Golden Fruit Tree Clan are suited for the quiet life. Living in seclusion might be the best for them.”

“Hopefully, there will be no conflict,” Lei Jue said as he watched Zuo Nian come over with a toy, followed by Ding Yuwen holding Qiuqiu. He said nothing more and smiled as he walked over to accept his daughter, “We’ve troubled you again, Auntie.”

“Not at all. I couldn’t be happier. Who knows when I would get a granddaughter as cute as Qiuqiu.” At the thought, even Ding Yuwen had to worry. Because of that Lele, Zuo Feng had suffered all these years and never bothered trying to find a boyfriend or a girlfriend. He hadn’t even let himself become particularly close to anyone. Now he has finally brought a boyfriend home and, theoretically, this should be a very happy occasion.

But the kid was so sick…

The head of the family probably wouldn’t agree…

As if summoned by the thought, Zuo Zhihuan came back. He wore a smile on the face, clearly pretty happy at the thought of meeting his “daughter-in-law.”

“Where’s Feng?” Zuo Zhihuan asked as soon as he saw his wife.

“He’s still in his room,” Ding Yuwen said and then remembered how her son had brought his boyfriend into his bedroom and not come out. Suddenly she thought something was off. They’ve been inside for so long, and he hasn’t even played host to his friend. What were the two kids doing?!

“Get someone to call them down.” Zuo Zhihuan said as he sat down on the sofa.

Ding Yuwen summoned the butler and told him to ask Zuo Feng and Di Lin to join them downstairs. Xiao Lingyu immediately tried to find an excuse to stop him, but the door to Zuo Feng’s room opened. Zuo Feng walked out with a bit of a flush to him and brought Di Lin, who was fast asleep on him, down with him.

Zuo Zhihuan didn’t notice his future daughter-in-law, who was about the size of a peanut. He saw his son come down and asked, “Didn’t you say that you brought your boyfriend? Where is he?”

Zuo Feng carefully cradled the sleeping Di Lin in his palm and showed him to Marshal Zuo. “Here.”

Zuo Zhihuan glanced at him, and then his mouth twitched, and his face instantly darkened, “What is this? A spider?”

Zuo Feng: “…”

Lei Jue: “…”

Xiao Lingyu: “…”
