“Oh?” Wen Jiubo stared at me with a faint smile on his face. “Really? Then why are you avoiding me like that, you were so passionate a minute ago.”

“No, I’m not!” My face was getting even redder. “That wasn’t me.”

“Uh, you’re just too shy to admit it.” Wen Jiubo didn’t notice my abnormal behavior, and he smiled like a fox.

The strange thing was that afterward, I stopped feeling like something was wrong. Since Wen Jiubo stewed a chicken for me today, I didn’t want to ruin his good mood and therefore I didn’t tell him about me being possessed.

“Gu Yu, Gu Yu?”

“Uh?” After I pulled my wandering mind back to the present moment, I saw Wen Jiubo tapping the bowl with his spoon while his head rested on his other hand.

“It’s rare for me to cook dinner, but little Gu Yu doesn’t appreciate it at all.” Wen Jiubo pouted his lips, acting like a spoiled kid. “I’m so sad.”

After hearing his words, I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. I didn’t know why, but Wen Jiubo seemingly lowered the defense in his heart, and occasionally showed his childish side to me.

I didn’t know it was a good thing or a bad thing…

“What! This smell——!”

Bai’s penetrating voice came from afar, “Wen Jiubo! How dare you cook chicken stew behind my back!”

Then, a flash of white light rushed through. The ferret quickly climbed onto the table and stared at the pot of chicken stew with shining eyes.

“Ah——It smells so good! I didn’t know you were able to cook, Wen Jiubo!”

“What do you mean by ‘behind your back’?” The expression on Wen Jiubo’s face returned to normal, he poked Bai with the spoon and drove him off the table. “Who knows where you went. Get off the table and have a bath. Keep your dirty paws off my furniture.”

“You’re so cheap!” Bai blew a raspberry at Wen Jiubo and made a funny face before climbing down the table to go and clean his paws.

I grinned, grabbed a chair and sat down. I never saw Wen Jiubo cook before and rarely had dinner in the old residence. Occasionally, Wen Jiubo and I snuggled up on the sofa and ordered takeaway. Each time the delivery boy thought they came to a wonderland.

However, I wasn’t surprised at all that Wen Jiubo could cook. Frankly, nothing would surprise me since I believed that he was capable of doing anything.

I picked up the chopsticks and ate some chicken meat. A unique fragrance suddenly spread in my mouth.

“So?” Wen Jiubo held a bowl of rice and pick up his chopsticks.

I nodded firmly. “Yummy!”

Wen Jiubo smiled. “I promised to cook dinner for you, it’s my apology for making you miss a whole day of class.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “You aren’t even embarrassed to bring it up.”

Wen Jiubo began to eat. Of course, he had much better table manners than me. One bite after another, unlike me who was scarfing down food like an animal, he ate elegantly.

However…did he ever feel hungry? Though I hardly ever saw him eat, whenever I ate, he would shamelessly ask me to share with him.

“Nope.” Wen Jiubo sipped some soup and suddenly said.

I was startled and complained, “Are you reading my mind?”

“I don’t know mind reading, but some naive and simple-minded people like you are easy peasy.”Wen Jiubo grinned, putting a piece of meat into his mouth. “Though I never get hungry, I enjoy tasting human food. Humans always had special insights about food, what kind of flavor would go well with different kind of spices, how to control the temperatures when dealing with different ingredients. Humankind is the only species that turned cooking into an art. ”

“Of course we are.” After hearing this, I said proudly. “Humans are the most intelligent species in the world.”

“They also stand at the top of the food chain.” Wen Jiubo picked up the chicken head, which shone and looked extremely delicious under the light. “As a result, human food is the most delicious kind of food in the world, because this food contains the suffering of other species.”

“Suffering?” I asked with my mouth full.

“They all endure suffering before they die.” Wen Jiubo said as if he was talking about something mundane. “All of these kinds of food suffered under the process of captivity, harvest, slaughter and other types of torture. Rather than feeding on the food itself, humans feed on their suffering.”

All of sudden, the chicken head between his chopsticks seemed horrifying as if its open beak was telling its sufferings when it was alive

I shivered before looking at Wen Jiubo and whined, “What are you talking about? Are you trying to make me lose my appetite?”

Wen Jiubo laughed out. “Your mental capacity is so weak! Nobody is denying you this food. Survival of the fittest, you should be proud of yourself. Here, you eat this chicken head.”

As he was talking, he put the chicken head in my bowl. Suddenly, a shadow rushed over and stole the chicken head from my bowl at lightning speed.

“Bai!” I shouted angrily.

Expectedly, the white weasel crouched on the table, happily shaking its tail and eating the chicken head.

“I thought you didn’t want it, so I helped myself.” Bai quickly finished the chicken head.

“Thief!” I said dispiritedly.

“Alright, you guys. You can eat this.” Wen Jiubo smiled and gave me some more meat.

Wen Jiubo was really handsome when he smiled. He looked dazzling from every angle. Then that strange feeling appeared again.

No…

Did this feeling belong to me or some anonymous woman hiding inside my body?

“It seems you came here to take advantage of the heating,” Wen Jiubo said flatly after dinner when he walked me to the front gate.

“Uh… em, yes.” I scratched my head. “Your place is warm.”

“I give in. All right, it’s getting dark, you should go back.” Wen Jiubo lifted his arm and rubbed my messy hair. He liked to do this, fussing my hair like I was a little kid. Even though I asked him not to do this for so many times, he never listened.

While I——

I reached out to catch his hand.
