The Second Breakup – Part Twenty-six, Part 1 of 2

Translated by translationraven

Who was dirty?

Cao Kun? The cameraman? The entertainment industry? Himself? Or all of the above?

Tang Chi stared straight at Song Yucheng. He couldn’t figure out the answer. Any one of the possible answers was just too depressing, too heavy.

Song Yucheng did not give any sign of explaining what he’d said. He hugged Tang Chi again, and made a promise in a soft voice. “Don’t be afraid, Tang Chi. I’ll personally deliver Ding Mingcheng to Hell.”

“Mm, I believe you.” Tang Chi nodded, and went back to the dormitory to rest like Song Yucheng had instructed. A tough battle was coming next, so he had to prepare himself and make himself as invulnerable as possible.

The dormitories were not very far away from the company, but Tang Chi met several employees who looked at him oddly as he walked to the dorms. He would have collapsed from humiliation if it were the old him, but now… He felt that it didn’t matter. He took these odd stares and treated them as motivation for pushing forward.

Xie Qianchen had been able to hang on all by himself those years ago, and he was able to survive under Cao Kun for years too. Xie Qianchen had also become a legend among the entertainment industry managers, so why couldn’t he do the same? Ding Mingcheng had not paid for the wrongs he’d done. The truth had not been revealed, and justice not yet meted out. How could he be defeated so easily?

As for the gossip, he’d heard enough of that in the past six months. He was used to the hypocrisy of the world, so these biases were just trifling matters.

He, Tang Chi, would definitely not admit defeat!

Tang Chi’s strength surprised Song Yucheng. This strength of his made him more appreciative of him, and also made his heart ache more deeply for him.

Song Yucheng thought more carefully about the plan, and went to look for the person in charge of the public relations department after he was sure there wouldn’t be problems.

“Are you crazy?” The public relations guy looked at Song Yucheng in alarm. These sorts of rumours were normally refuted, so why did Xie Qianchen want to spread it instead? Plus, his approach seemed too naive. Denying the rumours within the company was just damaging Tang Chi further. What could he do other than deny it though?

Tang Chi was done if Ding Mingcheng really put the information on the internet. What they had to do was to hide it in times like these.

With that thought in mind, the public relations guy retorted right away. “Have you thought about how much pressure Tang Chi would be under if this blows up?”

“I’ve talked over this with him. He can take it.”

“This is not about whether he can take it or not. If this really does get spread all over the Internet, he’ll never be able to remove the labels put on him.”

“He’s psychologically prepared. There’s no problem.”

“How can there be no problem? This isn’t something that can be confirmed just by you saying so.” The public relations guy was frustrated by Song Yucheng’s stubbornness. He finally shot him a question, “Have you forgotten how Han Feiran died?”

“I haven’t, and this is why it needs to be revealed.” The mention of Han Feiran made anger flare in Song Yucheng’s heart. He smiled coldly at the public relations manager, and every word he spoke stabbed at his chest like a knife.

“What is the use of hiding it? Can it even be hidden? Was it you who didn’t keep it hidden back then, or me? Who can stop Ding Mingcheng if he wants to kick up a fuss? You know very well how Feiran jumped to his death, don’t you?

“It isn’t just Han Feiran. From the time I became a manager at 18, there was Qu Ling in the first year, Qing Qian and Xixi in my second year, Jiang Yuan and Xiao Xuan who retired in my third year, Mi Wei, who was criticised by the Internet… And then there’s Lu Wenyuan, who got driven insane. Now, based just off these names, can you tell me that hiding it is going to be useful?”

“. . .”

The public relations manager took a step backwards and said nothing for a long while.

It was useless. Definitely useless.

The people Song Yucheng had listed were all people with talent who could make it in the industry with no problems. The second generation heirs had taken interest in these people and did whatever they liked to satisfy themselves, and thrown away the celebrities like trash after they’d had their fun. They didn’t care about the fate of the celebrities. However, no matter what their reasons for sleeping with the second generation heirs, these celebrities did not deserve their unkind ends.

Out of all these people, the only one who’d escaped was Xie Qianchen himself. The ruthlessness he’d had back then was beyond what all of them could imagine. Cao Kun had forced him to submit to him, so he had sent the original copy of that video to all of the key people in the industry.

But the facts proved that Xie Qianchen had won. Cao Kun’s name had been dragged through the mud and people were disgusted by him in private though they could not publicly offend him. And for Cao Kun, he’d lost his hold of Xie Qianchen’s weakness and the base of hsi threats against him. Xie Qianchen had managed to keep surviving successfully in the industry too.

And now, ten years later, Xie Qianchen was not shying away from this. Everyone who knew about the details though, could only sigh and wish him good luck.

Ridicule and contempt? Those with a heart wouldn’t do that.

So what Song Yucheng was proposing to do could be the right solution. The public relations manager wavered; he was quite convinced.

“You win. Go ahead and do your crazy thing!” He turned his head and instructed his subordinate, “Assist Xie Qianchen. Carry out whatever task he asks you to do.” He turned back to look Song Yucheng straight in the eye. “I hope you don’t regret this, Qianchen.”

Song Yucheng patted him on the shoulder and said with a smile, “Thanks, bro!”

The public relations manager did not reply. He walked off. The red-rimmed eyes of his, however, belied the uneasiness in his heart.

He felt that Song Yucheng was right. It’d been ten years, and the business model of the entrainement industry had been updated, so the darkness hidden in the corners should disappear too.

The stars should have the right to shine. People like Ding Mingcheng should go to Hell!

——————————————————————————————————————————-

Today had definitely been a shocking day for the Picture Domain employees. They’d seen the clip of Tang Chi’s porn-like eroticism, and that had been closely followed by the entire video.

Everyone had a tendency to be curious, and the short clip Ding Mingcheng had sent had piqued their curiosity.

They couldn’t help themselves from clicking on it when they received the entire video. After watching it however, they were all shaken.

It was not a show, not acting, and not to satisfy the fetish of some overlord. This was pure brutality.

All their hearts leapt up to their mouths when Tang Chi’s cup fell to the floor in the video. Ding Mingcheng reached out a purposeful hand towards Tang Chi, and the weak-hearted viewers closed the video.

“I can’t keep watching! Ding Mingcheng is a damned beast!”

“OMG, I know the industry isn’t all squeaky clean, but Ding Mingcheng is the boss of a record company. How can he have the guts to do such a thing?”

“I know someone in the public relations side, and I heard that Leap Records made this video with the aim of forcing Tang Chi to withdraw his complaint.”

“F*ck! Withdraw his complaint? He should sue Ding Mingcheng for sexual harassment!”

They were all human here, so how could he act like such a beast? Practically everyone at Picture Domain were completely disgusted by Leap Records.

The announcement Song Yucheng sent out after that made their blood boil with anger.

Ding Mingcheng was such absolute trash they had no words to describe their disgust.

Tang Chi had stayed with Leap Records and tolerated all the unfair treatment there. The evil done in the office had all been planned too, and the aim of the deed was not because it was to be used as evidence against him to stop him from reporting them, but simply to satisfy Ding Mingcheng’s desires.

To put it plainly, he acted that way because he was secure in the knowledge that he had backing.

The last sentence in Song Yucheng’s announcement was just the beginning. Tang Chi had already made a police report, and he would pursue this to the end. Everyone was sweating buckets on Tang Chi’s behalf.

Tang Chi was a public figure! Things like the unfair contract terms were not negatively affecting his reputation, but this thing… If this was really made public knowledge, how was Tang Chi going to stay in the industry?

Tang Chi was only in his twenties, and so talented…

Ding Mingcheng, that bastard!
